🔺 Keep the Streak. The men's basketball team beat GCU 87-64 on Tuesday. This marked the team’s fourth-straight win and 21st straight home win. New Mexico shot 52.7% from the field and 50% from behind the arc. Jake Hall led the team with 22 points, extending his UNM freshman record to six 20-point games. Four other Lobos were in double-digits.

🔺 Watch Them! Two track and field athletes were named to The Bowerman Preseason Watch List. Habtom Samuel and Pamela Kosgei were awarded. The Bowerman is awarded to the top athlete in collegiate track and field. It's the first time in UNM history that both a male and female Lobo athlete open the season on the Bowerman Watch List.

🔺 Winner! Track and field athlete Habtom Samuel won the Houston Half Marathon. Alum Cali Thackery won the Women’s Full Marathon. Samuel crossed in 59:01, which is the fastest time ever by any current or former NCAA athlete. This was Thackery’s second marathon win in the last month.

Since 2017, the National Day of Racial Healing has created space for people to connect and imagine a better future together. In the years since, the world around us has changed. For many communities, opportunities that should be available to all—like access to good schools, quality health care, healthy food, and steady work—remain out of reach. Trust in our systems has been shaken, and our divisions have grown, making healing more urgent than ever.

Still, millions of neighbors, coworkers, loved ones, parents, and children continue to show up for one another. They share lived experiences, build trust where they live, learn, and work, and strengthen a sense of belonging through everyday connection. These daily acts of courage and care show that racial healing is both necessary and possible.

As we mark the 10th anniversary of the National Day of Racial Healing, join us on Jan. 20, 2026—at home, at work, in your community, or online—and take a step toward understanding, connection, and healing.
