Good morning! Saturday night’s game may not have gone as planned, but some things are bigger than the game itself. Around 40 Extraordinary Lobos campers had their names on Lobo jerseys and got to participate in the pregame Buddy Walk. They got recognized at halftime and it looks like they had a great time!

🔼 Came Up Short. Lobo faithful showed up for the Rio Grande Rivalry, 27,414 fans to be exact. New Mexico came up short, losing to New Mexico State 27-17. The Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel Star of the Game was Andrew Erickson! He hauled in three catches for 38 yards and a touchdown against the Aggies. Jacory Croskey-Merritt rushed for the other Lobo touchdown in the second quarter. The Lobos look towards a two-game road trip, starting with UMass on Saturday at 1:30pm MT.

🔼 Holding It Down At Home. The volleyball team swept Northern Arizona at the home-opener! The crowd of 1,047 recorded the highest attendance for a Johnson Center home-opener since 2015. Uxue Guereca earned her fifth double-double of the season and led the team with 16 digs. Melissa Walden had 39 assists and 10 digs. The Lobos have now won nine-straight sets and 13 of their last 17. The team looks to open conference play at Nevada and Fresno State this week. Both will be available to watch on the Mountain West Network.

🔼 The Boys Are Back. Fall ball is coming in hot with four baseball scrimmages this week! Get a sneak peak of Lobo baseball on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3:30pm, plus Saturday morning at 11am. The team will scrimmage each of those days and admission is free at Santa Ana Star Field. Come out and see what they have cookin’!

🐺 ONE BIG THING

The football weight room was dedicated in Coach Mark Paulsen’s honor on Friday evening. Coach P was the Strength and Conditioning Coach at UNM before becoming the University Director of Athletic Performance from 1987 to 2012. He and his wife started the collegiate chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at New Mexico in 1987. The weight room is now named the “Mark Paulsen Strength Center”
