📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Bringing The Heat. The Lobos men’s basketball team has been bringing the heat all summer. Whether they’re playing for different countries or all under the same roof (the Davalos Basketball Center), the boys have been grinding it out. Most recently, Nelly Junior Joseph played for Team Africa at the GLOBL JAM and showed what he could do.
🔼 Count ‘Em Down. With 39 days until kickoff, we’re looking back to our 2019 season opener when the Lobos defeated Sam Houston State 39-31. The Lobos had four rushing touchdowns and 485 yards of offense. Sheririon Jones took over under center in the second half when the Lobos were down 22-23, he showed out with back-to-back touchdowns. Andrew Shelley hit four field goals, the fourth-most in school history. It was New Mexico’s fifth straight season opening win.
🔼 Diving In. There’s a new Lobo in town and her name is Phoebe Campbell! She is the newest assistant swimming coach under Coach Naya Higashijima. She spent last year as a volunteer assistant with the Texas A&M men’s swim team where she also handled analytics. Before A&M, she was an assistant coach at Vassar College and a graduate assistant at Ball State. She was a swimmer at Henderson State and was an aquatics director and head site coach in Arkansas.
🔼 Going Global. One Lobo women’s basketball player is going global and representing Germany in the FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship this week. Lara Langermann will be playing in the tournament in Romania July 28 - August 6. She participated in the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship last month. The freshman is from Breckerfield, Germany where she played in multiple U18 leagues. You can tune in at https://www.youtube.com/FIBA.
