🔼 New Head Lobo. We’re welcoming the newest head coach of New Mexico track & field and cross country, Darren Gauson! He comes from Bradley where he led the Braves to 10 Missouri Valley Cross Country Championships over the last eight years. This past year, his men’s and women’s teams swept the conference titles. Before Bradley, he led Lamar University to back-to-back Southland Conference men’s and women’s cross country titles in 2013 and 2014. We are so excited to have the 10-time Missouri Valley Coach of the Year and 2018 USTFCCCA Midwest Region Men’s Coach of the Year on our team!

🔼 Mr. Worldwide. Lobos men’s golf member Bastien Amat finished top-20 at the 2023 European Amateur Championship over the weekend. He finished in 16th-place after scoring 15-under through four rounds. The rising senior has had a busy summer in these tournaments, he competed in the U.S. Open last month.

🔼 All Eyes On Paris. Today, we’re highlighting Lobo women’s basketball freshman, Paris Lauro. She’s a 6’1 forward from Highland Park in Dallas, Texas. She was named Offensive Player of the Year for District 13-5A and was named to the TABC 5A All-Region Team. You can check out some of her highlights here! 

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Garver Goes Boom. Former Lobo baseball player Mitch Garver did his Texas Rangers a favor on the Fourth of July. The catcher hit a three-run rocket over the center field wall to put the Rangers over the Boston Red Sox, 3-1, in the top of the second inning. He also hit a double, making it his first game with two extra-base hits since April. Garver played college baseball for the Lobos from 2010-2013 and was drafted in the 2013 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
