🔺 Best Arm. Baseball pitcher Ryan Castillo was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week. Castillo threw six shutout innings as UNM clinched the weekend series with a 5-2 win in Game Two on Saturday, striking out five and scattering four hits in the process to post a staff-best 1.17 WHIP and hold opponents to a .190 average.

🔺 Yearly Honors. After following up a clean sweep of the Men’s and Women’s 3,000m and 5,000m titles at MW Indoor Championships with elite showings at NCAA Indoor Championships, New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel and Pamela Kosgei have been named Mountain West Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Year for the 2026 indoor season. It's the eighth time a man from UNM has been named MW Indoor Student-Athlete of the Year and the fourth time for a Lobo woman.

🔺 Postponed. The baseball game against the Aggies on Tuesday was postponed due to illness impacting NMSU's roster. A makeup date will be announced at a later time.

The Education Plan has enjoyed partnering with the Lobos this year, sponsoring the “Kid’s Get in Free” promotion, being at Louie Lane before football games and on the concourse at some basketball games to educate Lobo fans about New Mexico’s 529. See you this spring and summer!

The Education Plan is our state’s direct sold 529 education savings program that helps families save for the future in a tax-advantaged way. 529 plans have expanded in what funds can be used for. Along with college expenses, the funds can now be used for K-12 expenses, trade schools and apprenticeships, and more recently for professional development education expenses such as continuing education classes.

Our partnership with UNM is centered around kids, as a 529 Plan can make the most difference when they are started early on! To learn more or open an account go to theeducationplan.com
