Today, the Lobos dominate on the basketball and tennis courts.

Good morning! We have a game time! Well… kind of. The football game against Fresno State will either be at 3pm on FS2 or 8:30pm on FS1, we’ll find out on Sunday!

What else is steeping in today’s Brew?

🎾 Winning weekend
🐺 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 All Smiles. Everybody had some fun in last night’s 92-55 win over Texas Southern! Eleven Lobos scored with Jamal Mashburn Jr. leading the team with 15. Donovan Dent was close behind him with 12 points, while JT Toppin and Braden Appelhans both scored 11. JT added nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks to his stat sheet. They’ll have a real test as they head to No. 23 Saint Mary’s on Thursday.

🔼  Comin’ In Hot. The women’s basketball team also started strong, with a 76-59 win over Texas Southern. The terrific trio of Viané Cumber, Nyah Wilson, and Aniyah Augmon led the way for the Lobos. Viané tied her career-high with 22 points, Nyah scored a career-high 20 points, and Aniyah finished with 17 points. The Lobos finished with nine three-pointers with Nyah and Viané both making four. They play Pepperdine on the road on Thursday at 8pm.

🔼 Double The Dominance. Men’s tennis players spent the weekend in Atlanta and Dallas at two different tournaments. Some played in the Georgia Tech Invitational and some played in the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge at SMU. Overall, the Lobos went 22-9 in singles to shut the door on the fall season. Georgio Samaha, Alex Maggs, and Aram Noroozian were all perfect in their singles matches.

🔼  Five On It. The women’s tennis team picked up five wins on Sunday at the UTEP Invitational to close out the fall season. The doubles duo of Bente Vandeputte and Maria Sodre won for a third time in three days. Hsuan Huang picked up three singles wins over the weekend. The Lobos faced players from UTEP, New Mexico State, and Idaho on the final day. They’ll have a break until February 3, when they host Western New Mexico and Colorado College.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Fox College Hoops broadcaster John Fanta selected New Mexico as one of his Final Four teams! He threw the Lobos in the mix with Arkansas, Michigan State, and Creighton. Expectations are high for this Lobo team and as John Fanta said, “parity is real!”
