🔼 Go Time. Basketball season officially starts today! After some successful exhibition games, the Lobos men’s basketball team will host Texas Southern in The Pit tonight at 7:30pm. Texas Southern has won three-straight SWAC Championships and made the last three NCAA Tournaments. They hold the SWAC Preseason Player of the Year, PJ Henry. The Lobos are 90-30 all-time in season openers and have won 20-straight. If you can’t make it to The Pit, you can watch on the Mountain West Network.

🎟 Tickets

🔼  Double Down. The women’s basketball team will open the season before the men in tonight’s double-header. They’ll play Texas Southern in The Pit at 5pm. The Lobos are 3-0 all-time against the Tigers. Fans attending will be granted admission to both games, with gates opening at 4pm. Between games, UNM Alumni Lettermen are invited to the Letterman’s Lounge as we kick off the season.

🔼  Fought For Four. The swimming & diving team picked up four event wins at Northern Arizona over the weekend, doubling the amount of wins from their last meet. Alice English picked up another win in the 3-meter dive. Jordan Foster won the 100-yard butterfly and Tahlia Micallef won the 200-yard individual medley. The Lobos also won the 200-yard freestyle relay. They’ll host a meet at Siedler Natatorium on Saturday.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Former Lobo men’s basketball head coach Gary Colson passed away on Friday at 89-years-old. He led the Lobos from 1980-88 and appeared in five-straight NIT’s, including a quarterfinal appearance. Coach Colson was the 1984 WAC Coach of the Year. In 2005, he was inducted into the UNM Hall of Honor.
