📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Early Birds. The Mountain West Wire sent the Lobos some preseason praise, selecting five New Mexico football players to their preseason All-Mountain West teams. The special teams took the spotlight with Aaron Rodriguez named Second Team Special Teams alongside returners Christian Washington and Luke Wysong. Donte Martin and Tavian Combs were named second team as well. Luke Wysong also picked up third team recognition at wide receiver.

🔼 Ballin’ For BAL. Lobos basketball player Nelly Junior Joseph showed out at the GLOBL JAM in Toronto over the weekend. He scored 18 points and 9 rebounds against Team USA, represented by the Kentucky Wildcats, on Saturday. He went on to score 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists in the bronze medal game against Germany yesterday.

🔼 Fab Four. The New Mexico track and field and cross country teams got some new additions, the four transfers announced that they’re following their head coach Darren Gauson to New Mexico. Nicola Jansen, Sophia McDonnell, Peyton Schieppe, and Tyler Schwartz are all joining the Lobos from Bradley where they won the 2022 Missouri Valley cross country title. Nicola Jansen holds both 5k and 6k records at Bradley and was the 2021 Missouri Valley Freshman of the Year in cross country. Sophia McDonnell won the same award in 2019 along with Tyler Schwartz in 2018.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Stars & Stripes. She can do it all! Former New Mexico women’s basketball player Laneah Bryan won gold with the USA Football’s Women’s Flag Football National Team. She had 18 flag pulls, 16 passes defended, and 7 interceptions at defensive back. Laneah was a guard for the Lobos from 2014-2018.
