The University of New Mexico Spirit Program is excited to host the inaugural Lobo Spirit Golf Classic on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Santa Ana Golf Club. This event brings together alumni, businesses, families, and community supporters for a day of golf while investing in the student-athletes who proudly represent UNM on campus, athletic events, community, and on the national stage. Tournament proceeds help provide essential resources including travel, uniforms, equipment, training opportunities, and overall program development. Whether you're an avid golfer, looking for a fun day with friends, or interested in showcasing your business, we'd love to have you join us. Registration closes September 15, 2026, with any remaining team openings available until tournament day, as space allows. We also offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals looking to make an even greater impact. 🔺 Anotha’ One. Football player Jaxton Eck was named to the Butkus Award Watch List. This marks the fifth watch list he has been named to this preseason. The Butkus Award is presented to the best linebacker in college football. New Mexico opens the season with a pair of home games, hosting Central Michigan on FS1 at 8pm on Saturday, Sept. 5, before hosting Mercyhurst at 2pm on Saturday, Sept. 12.

🔺 Welcome! The Lobos added Nick Joos as the Deputy Athletic Director/Chief External Affairs Officer. Joos was recently the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Iowa State. He will oversee all external units, including marketing, communications, creative services, ticketing, and UNM Sports Properties. He will also oversee many of the department's branding and licensing initiatives, serve as a spokesman for the department, as well as the sport administrator for the Lobo football program.
