🔺 Staying. Football head coach Jason Eck signed a new five-year contract that will keep UNM’s record-setting coach under contract through the 2030 season. This new agreement replaces the five-year contract Eck signed when he was named head coach in December 2024. Coach Eck was also named the Mountain West Coach of the Year. Jaxton Eck was named the Mountain West Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

🔺 Part 2. Safety Austin Brawley was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week. This is his second time earning the honor in three weeks. Brawley recorded a season-high 10 tackles with a sack, TFL, forced fumble and an interception in the team’s victory over San Diego State.

🔺 Best of the Best. Cross country athlete Habtom Samuel was named the USTFCCCA D-I Men's National Athlete of the Year. Samuel went undefeated in a record-setting fashion all the way to the finish line a the NCAA Championships. Samuel became the first man from New Mexico and the second Mountain West men’s runner to take home the national crown,
🔺 Huge Win. The men’s basketball team recorded its largest margin of victory of the season in its 97-47 win over New Mexico Highlands. The Lobos shot 43.3% from the field. Six men scored in double figures on the team. Jake Hall led the way with 21 points.
