Lobos Brew 8/7: Eyes Wide Open
Today, we're watching Wysong and have another Lobo mic'd up.
Good morning! Missing Saturday’s at University Stadium? We’re just four Saturday’s away from being back, but for now you can watch what went down this Saturday in the stadium during fall camp.
What all is steeping in today’s Brew?
🏈 Making the list
🎤 Mic’d up with Myah
🐺 And much, much more!
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Watch For Wysong. Lobo wide receiver and punt returner Luke Wysong made the Paul Hornung Award watch list for the second straight year. He is one of five Mountain West players on the list. The award is given to the most versatile player in college football. Luke led the Lobos with 34 receptions and was the top punt returner last season. More information about the award can be found here.
🔼 Preseason Sneak Peek. There are 26 days until the Lobos football season officially begins. We’ve previewed the first two teams on the schedule, so today we’re going to preview the third. The third game of the season is the Rio Grande Rivalry against New Mexico State. This year, the Aggies are coming to town for the 113th matchup between the two. The Lobos lead the series 73-34-5. New Mexico State took the win last season, but this year the Lobos are ready for revenge. The rivalry will be played on September 16 at 6:00pm.
🔼 Football Flicks. We have tons of football content for you on @UNMLoboFB, check out some fall camp footage below:
🔼 Mic’d Up With Myah. Soccer season is just two short days away! Before it gets started, we mic’d up Myah Isais to have a little fun and see what the Lobos are bringing. The senior defender has been a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and Mountain West Academic All-Conference for four years. She made the 2022 Mountain West All-Tournament Team and has won three regular season conference titles and one tournament championship as a Lobo.
🐺 ONE BIG THING
Giving Back(packs). Over the weekend, Lobo football player Duece Jones hosted the inaugural Duece Jones Backpack Drive to give backpacks and school supplies to the 5th grade and kindergarten classes at Hodgin Elementary School. He wanted to start this drive after he had been a child without a backpack at a young age and wanted to make sure other children didn’t have that same experience.
