The University of New Mexico Spirit Program is excited to host the inaugural Lobo Spirit Golf Classic on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Santa Ana Golf Club. This event brings together alumni, businesses, families, and community supporters for a day of golf while investing in the student-athletes who proudly represent UNM on campus, athletic events, community, and on the national stage. Tournament proceeds help provide essential resources including travel, uniforms, equipment, training opportunities, and overall program development. Whether you're an avid golfer, looking for a fun day with friends, or interested in showcasing your business, we'd love to have you join us. Registration closes September 15, 2026, with any remaining team openings available until tournament day, as space allows. We also offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals looking to make an even greater impact. 🔼 Fresh Moves. Football player Toa Fa’avae was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Fa'avae is the first Lobo quarterback since Isaiah Chavez in 2021 to be named Freshman of the Week. In his first game as the No. 1 quarterback, Fa’avae set career highs in rushing yards 57 yards) and threw for 177 yards, also a career high. He went 10-for-17 passing on the day, and after starting the day 2-for-7 for 34 yards, he went 8-for-10 the rest of the way for 133 yards, including a three-yard touchdown pass.

🔼 Weekly Honor. Soccer player Presley Devey was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. Devey led the Lobos with six points behind two goals and two assists. Through the first week of conference play, Devey leads the MW in points.

🔼 Too Fast. Cross country athlete Pasanjo Kitonga has been named the USTFCCCA Division I Men’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Week. Kitonga covered the 8K course in 23:24.4 to lead four Lobos among the top six finishers in Stillwater, Oklahoma. That 23:24.4 finish ranks 10th amongst Cowboy Jamboree performances all-time, tying with Nico Young's finish in 2022.
