Lobos Brew 11/17: Football Beats CSU for 5th-Straight Home Win

The football team beat Colorado State 20-17 on Saturday at home.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Huge Win. The football team had a historic win over Colorado State on Saturday. The Lobos won 20-17 against CSU for the first time in 14 tries over 16 years. This marked New Mexico’s fourth straight win, tied them for second place in the conference and put them at 5-0 on the season at home for the first time since 1962. D.J. McKinney and Jack Layne made it to the end zone. UNM had a total of 348 yards.

🔺 Runnin’ It. The cross country team swept both the men’s and women’s team titles at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships for the first time since 2019 to secure two automatic qualifications to the NCAA Championships. The No. 3 men won with a score of 37 points, and the No. 8 women won with a score of 45.

🔺 Rivalry Win. The women’s basketball team beat New Mexico State 77-45 on Sunday. Nayli Padilla led the team with 14 points. Destinee Hooks and Cacia Antonio each had 10 points. The team shot 53.7% from the field and 45.45% from behind the arc.

🔺 Take 5. The women’s volleyball team beat Air Force in five sets, winning 3-2. The Lobos had 82 kills and had a .198 hitting percentage. The team had a season-high 21 blocks and three women had double-digit kills. Lauryn Payne led the team with 17 kills.

🔺 Semifinalist. Football punter Daniel Hughes was named a semifinalist on the Ray Guy Watch List. He is one of 10 semifinalists for the award. Hughes is the third Lobo punter to be named a semifinalist and is attempting to become the first UNM finalist for the award. He has punted 24 times and is averaging 46.2 yards per punt.

🔺 New Lobos. The women’s soccer team signed five players to its 2026 roster. Jessica Darby is a defender from Canada. Kylee Mackey is a midfielder from Nevada. Analyse Healy is a midfielder/forward from New Mexico. Emory Villacorta is a midfielder from Washington. Laiken van Rooyen is a midfielder from Canada.

🔺 Rival Results. The men’s basketball team fell to New Mexico State in the Rio Grande Rivalry matchup 76-68. Deyton Albury led the team with 18 points. Tomislav Buljan recorded his second-straight double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
