📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Going The Distance. New Mexico is the No. 1 men’s track & field 10,000m school in the country! The Lobos landed at the top of the first USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings of the season. New Mexico leads with a 1:52:30 total, almost two whole seconds ahead of No. 2 Arkansas. At this weekend’s Stanford Invitational, three Lobos put down sub-29 minutes PR’s in the last two sections of the men’s 10K. Habtom Samuel, Evans Kiplagat, and Vincent Chirchir rank among the top 10 in the nation in the event. The men’s team was ranked No. 35 overall.

🔼 Out West. Lobo baseball is out west at Arizona for tonight’s midweek matchup in Tucson. Head coach Tod Brown is quite familiar with the Wildcats as a Tucson native and Arizona alum. The Lobos are looking to bounce back after dropping this weekend’s doubleheader at San Diego State. This will be the first of four-straight matchups with 2023 NCAA Regional qualifiers. First pitch is at 7 pm and you can follow along at GoLobos.com/BSBStats.

🔼 A Beautiful Day To Save Lives. New Mexico will host the second annual UNM Athletics & Project Heart Start CPR Training Event on April 20 at The Pit from 9 am to noon. Everyone in the community is invited to learn the basics of CPR and earn a CPR card after the program. People who pre-register here will receive two free tickets to football’s home opener against Montana State on August 24! Fans can show their CPR card after the event for free admission to the softball game against Utah State at 1 pm.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Former Lobo cross country and track & field runner Weini Kelati was the fastest American finisher at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships! She finished 15th at the race in Serbia on Saturday. The U.S. women finished fourth as a team. Weini is one of the most decorated Lobo alum in cross country and track & field history with 13 All-American honors, four track records, five conference records, six conference titles, two individual NCAA titles, and much more.
