Lobos Brew 9/13: Heating Up
Today, rivalry week is heating up around campus, volleyball is up next, and meet a local Lobo.
Good morning! Rivalry week is heating up! The Lobo football specialists went around campus getting students fired up for Saturday’s game against New Mexico State. They asked students to try and kick a game winning field goal, click here to see the results!
Today would be a good day to check your closets and make sure you have plenty of cherry, because Saturday is a cherry out!

🎥 LOCAL LOBOS
Meet Andrew Erickson. In our first Local Lobos feature, get to know Andrew Erickson. He’s a redshirt senior wide receiver from Manzano High School in Albuquerque. His road hasn’t been the smoothest, he tore his ACL right after earning a scholarship and later broke his collarbone. Last season, he played in 11 games and recorded 12 catches for 110 yards. His brother, Austin, is also on the team.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Quick Trip. The volleyball team is taking a quick trip to Flagstaff, Arizona for a match against Northern Arizona tonight. This is the first of two matches the Lobos and Lumberjacks will play this week, on Friday the Lumberjacks will be here in Albuquerque. Tonight’s match starts at 7:30pm and you can tune in on ESPN+.
The Lobos have won the last three tournament weekends. Athina Dimitriadis has been selected to all three All-Tournament Teams, Uxue Guereca has made two, and Kaitlynn Biassou made one. The Lobos are first in the conference in digs per set and No. 14 nationally.
🔼 Fallin’ Into Baseball. Don’t miss out on a chance to learn from the Lobos! Sign up for the Lobo Fall Prospect Camp on November 11. The camp is designed for high school baseball players looking to develop their skills and showcase their talents to the Lobo staff. Campers will also learn about the recruiting process and be able to ask questions.
🔼 Rivalry Week. There’s plenty of fun coming this weekend for the 113th edition of the Rio Grande Rivalry in University Stadium! This isn’t just a regular football game in Albuquerque, this is the passionate rivalry between two New Mexico schools who are excited and hungry this football season. What should you know?
⏰ Arrive Early: Come out early and enjoy the tailgates and the Albertsons Howl Zone. Head into the stadium earlier than usual, there are 30,000+ expected to attend so gates are opening at 4:00pm. Make sure your tickets are downloaded to your phone wallet and you have your clear bag.
🐺 Albertsons Howl Zone: The Howl Zone will feature low riders, a mariachi band, folk dancers, food vendors, and free games! Posters will also be given away while supplies last.
🎆 In-Game Fun: Parachute jumpers will be landing on midfield before the game. During the first quarter, Terance Mathis will be presented with his College Football Hall of Fame plaque. There will also be a giant firework show at the end of the game.
