📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Just Keep Winning. Lobo baseball beat San Diego State for the first time since 2021 to open this weekend’s series! The Lobos were sparked by Akili Carris’ three-run double. Dayne Pengelly threw five scoreless innings and a career-high six strikeouts to earn the win. The Lobos beat the Aztecs 5-2. Due to expected weather, the rest of this weekend’s schedule has been changed. They’ll now wrap up the series with a doubleheader today, starting at 3 pm. The final game will be played 45 minutes after the first game ends.

🔼  Top Of The Mountain. The women’s tennis team is the only team undefeated in Mountain West play! They took down Boise State 4-2 yesterday, as Sarah O’Connor was the match clincher. Hsuan Huang picked up a big comeback singles win and Leonie Hoppe won hers as well. The Lobos won the first two doubles matches thanks to Leonie and Katherine Jhang, and Maria Sodre and Hsuan. They’ll play at Utah State on Saturday at 10 am.

🔼 Thrilling Thursday. The men’s tennis team opened conference play with an impressive win over No. 67 Utah State. Arda Azkara secured his 23rd-straight singles match at No. 1. He fought off two match points and won a third set tiebreaker. The Lobos went down 3-1 and needed to win all three remaining third sets, and that’s exactly what they did. The Lobos beat the Aggies 4-3. They’ll return to the court Saturday at UNLV at 2 pm.

🔼 Round One, Done. Women’s golfer Myah McDonald had an excellent opening round of the PING/ASU Invitational. She sits tied for fifth-place after shooting 3-under, just one shot off the lead. The Lobos sit in 16th as a team in a field where every team is ranked in the top-80 nationally. The tournament will continue today and tomorrow in Phoenix.

🔼 Lobos Everywhere. Lobo track & field is splitting the weekend between four meets in the Bay Area and Texas. Sprinters and jumpers are at the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational, while distance squads are at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Classic. You can keep up with all four meets at GoLobos.com/TrackResults.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Three Big League Bos are on 2024 MLB Opening Day Rosters! Mitch Garver will make his debut with his new team, the Seattle Mariners, after winning the World Series last season. He joined another former Lobo, Sam Haggerty, who will start the season with Seattle on the injured list. Justin Slaten is making his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox.
