🔼 Shining Silver. The Lobos had a solid first day at the Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships yesterday! Vincent Chirchir finished runner-up in the men’s 10,000m as one of two athletes to finish under the previous meet record. Nicola Jansen finished silver in the women’s 10k as well. Levy Soos qualified for the men’s 400mH final on Saturday. Victor Akhalu will be racing in the 200m final. Dylan Burrows finished second and Matthew Larkin fourth to secure spots in the 800m final.
🔼 Last Weekend At Home. Lobo baseball is looking to hold on to the No. 1 spot in the Mountain West standings as they host No. 3 Nevada. You won’t want to miss out on this weekend at Santa Ana Star Field! Tonight’s game begins at 6 pm. Tomorrow at 2 pm, bring your furry friends for Bark in the Park! Sunday, we’ll celebrate the seniors and Mother’s Day.

🔼 Meet DT. Meet the newest member of the Lobo men’s basketball team, Daniel Thomas! He’s a 6’8 forward from Dallas Carter High School in Dallas, Texas, where he earned all-state honors. The incoming freshman earned District 13-4A Defensive Player of the Year and was a McDonalds All-America nominee. He becomes the third player in the 2024 class to sign with the Lobos.
We are excited about our addition of Daniel to our basketball program. He has the size, toughness and upside that we were looking for in a young post player. He will fit in well with our culture on and off the floor.
🔼 Looking Ahead. New Mexico and VCU men’s basketball will hold a home-and-home series in 2024-25 and 2025-26! This upcoming season, they’ll play at The Pit on December 18. Next season’s game at VCU is to be determined. The only time these two teams have met was in 2009-09 at the Cancun Classic in Mexico.
🐺 ONE BIG THING
Hear Lobo football wide receiver Caleb Medford talk about upcoming graduation! He’ll be graduation with a liberal arts degree.
