📈 STOCK UP

🔺  Tourney Tune Up. The softball team started the Mountain West Championship with a 7-2 victory on Wednesday. Allie Williams, Ella Dawson and Jessica DeLeon all hit home runs. The win marked UNM’s first in the Mountain West Championship since 2005 and all seven runs scored by the Lobos came with two outs. The Lobos fell in the championship to Grand Canyon 7-6. DeLeon hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh.

🔺  New Hire. The women’s basketball team hired Cydney McHenry as the director of operations and assistant coach. McHenry comes to Albuquerque after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Weber State. The new Lobo was a two-year starter at Adams State, and got her coaching career started at Adams State as a graduate assistant with the men’s basketball program and then the women’s basketball program.

🔺  Swept! The track and field team swept the Mountain West weekly honors. Ajia Hughes was named the Field Athlete of the Week. Taniya Looney was named the Track Athlete of the Week. Eva Ngom earned Freshman of the Week. Hughes, Looney and Ngom all notched new UNM program records on Saturday in Tucson, with Hughes (High Jump; 1.83m) and Ngom (400m; 51.83) both winning their events outright.
