We're recapping the weekend!

🔺 Can’t Be Tamed. The men’s basketball team extended its win streak to seven after beating San Diego State 62-48. The Lobos improved to 6-0 in Mountain West play in front of a sold-out crowd of 15,428. Donovan Dent led the Lobos with 16 points and five assists, reaching 1,000 career points. Mustapha Amzil recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. New Mexico had a season-high 51 rebounds.

🔺 Battled It Out. The women’s basketball team fell 88-73 to UNLV in a battle of the last unbeaten teams in conference. The game was tied entering the fourth quarter, but a 17-0 Lady Rebels run was too much to overcome. Destinee Hooks had a game to remember with a game-high 27 points. Joana Magalhães scored a season-high 16 points and a season-high seven rebounds. Alyssa Hargrove scored 13. The Lobos will enjoy the bye week before playing at Colorado State on Saturday.

🔺 Watch Out. Lobo track & field’s Habtom Samuel was named to the Bowerman Award Preseason Watch List last week! He was named a semifinalist for the Bowerman Award in 2024. He becomes the second man from New Mexico to make the Bowerman List twice in his collegiate career. The Bowerman Award goes to collegiate track & field’s top male and female athlete for the year.
