🔼 Defending Home Base. Late into the night, the Lobos got their second-straight ranked win! The men’s basketball team defeated No. 16 Utah State at The Pit, 99-86. Nelly Junior Joseph had a great game, scoring a season-high 26 points, plus eight rebounds. Donovan Dent led the team with 14 assists and added 15 points for a double-double. Jaelen House added 14 points while JT Toppin and Mustapha Amzil scored 12 each. The Lobos remain undefeated at home!

🔼 He’s A Track Star. After a record-breaking weekend, Habtom Samuel was named the Mountain West Freshman and Athlete of the Week! He broke New Mexico’s indoor record in his first collegiate 3,000m race, finishing in 7:45.61. His time stands as the sixth-fastest in the nation and the fastest in the conference.

🔼 We’re Hosting. The women’s basketball team is hosting Wyoming tonight for another conference matchup! The Cowgirls are 4-0 in conference play and come off a win over San Diego State. The Lobos are 9-2 at The Pit and are looking for their third conference win. The first 1,000 fans will receive a turquoise jersey rally towel, so get there early! 🐺 ONE BIG THING

The New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame announced three Lobos as recipients of special-recognition awards for the performances in 2023. Former Lobo track & field runner Josh Kerr was one of the recipients. He won a world title for Scotland in the 1,500m in Budapest. The second Lobo is Mitch Garver, he helped the Texas Rangers win the 2023 World Series! Current Lobo Habtom Samuel received the honor, he won the Mountain West Conference and Mountain Region in cross country. He’s currently setting Lobo records on the track.
