🔺 Another One. New Mexico men’s basketball took down Utah State 82-79 in another battle of the top teams in the Mountain West. It was the second time the Lobos beat the Aggies this season and the first time they’ve swept them since 2013-14. Tru Washington scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Lobos, while Donovan Dent had his third-straight 20-point game with 23. The Lobos have clinched a first round bye at the Mountain West Tournament.

🔺 Took Two. Baseball season began with two wins and a loss at the MLB Desert Invitational! The Lobos beat Austin Peay 9-6 on Opening Day behind seven extra-base hits. They fell to UC Irvine on day two, but turned around to beat Seton Hall 5-3 on Sunday. Josh McAlister hit a rare inside-the-park home run, the first by a Lobo since 2011. Pitcher Ryan Castillo threw five scoreless innings to earn the win.

🔺 Record-Breaking Weekend. Another weekend of Lobos on the track means another weekend of broken records! Habtom Samuel improved his school record in the 3K as he won the race at the UW Husky Classic. The Lobo women’s distance medley relay ran the fastest time in program history at the same meet. Back at home at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Brodie Young broke the men’s 400m school record and Lou-Anne Pouzancre Hoyer broke the women’s 400m record. She has run a collegiate personal best in each of her last five 400m races as a Lobo.

🔺 Won The Weekend. The women’s tennis team picked up two road wins over the weekend! They defeated future Mountain West opponent UTEP 4-2 on Friday. Maud Vandeputte’s comeback three-set win was the match clincher for the Lobos. They turned around to beat rival New Mexico State 4-2 on Saturday, giving the Lobos a 5-4 record this season.
