📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Top Dogs. The men’s basketball team took control of first-place in the Mountain West after defeating Utah State 82-63! They handed the Aggies their most lopsided home loss since 1996-97. Mustapha Amzil led the Lobos with 16 points, while Nelly Junior Joseph went perfect on shooting with 15 points. Donovan Dent added 14 points and six assists. The Lobos are 10-1 in Mountain West play for the first time ever. They’ll host Colorado State on Wednesday.
🔺 Shattering Records. Lobo distance runner Habtom Samuel shattered his own 5,000m program record by nearly 10 seconds! His 13:04.92 time at the John Thomas Terrier Classic ranks fourth in NCAA indoor history. Collins Kiprotich ran the second-fastest 3,000m time in New Mexico history.
At the Washington Invitational, Pamela Kosgei broke her third Lobo indoor record in as many races. She broke the 3K record with an 8:44.62 time, ranking among the 10 fastest individual performances in NCAA history. Judy Rono ran the fifth-fastest indoor 800m in program history.
🔺 Best Yet. The Lobo swim team won a season-high seven events out of 16 at Northern Arizona! They won both relays, but Northern Arizona won the dual meet 171-122. Arianna Stokes won the 50 and 100 freestyles. At the Lumberjack Diving Invitational, Arianna Pelligra earned a Zone qualifying score of 236.10 on the platform, joining Isabella Gomez and Alice English as qualifiers.
🔺 Took Two. The women’s tennis team had a sweeping Saturday! They started the day with a 7-0 win over Western New Mexico and ended it with a 7-0 win over CSU Pueblo. On Sunday, they fell to Gonzaga 4-3.
