📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Lobo Split. Lobo softball started the day, and the season, as strong as possible with an 8-0 run-rule win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi! McKenna Guest limited them to just one run. It was the first season-opening shutout by the Lobos since 2017. Coach Nicole Dickson became the only coach in program history to win their first three season openers. The Lobos ran out of runs in the second game of the day, falling to Sam Houston 5-0. Allie Williams led the team with four hits throughout the day, while DeNae Vasquez-Dickson tied her with three RBI.

The weekend in the Houston area continues as they travel further for the Houston Classic. They’ll play at Houston Christian today at noon, then at Houston at 5:30 p.m. Tomorrow, they’ll play Houston Christian again at 9 a.m. and Houston at 3 p.m. They’ll wrap up the weekend on Sunday against St. John’s at 9 a.m. Both games against Houston will stream on ESPN+.

🔺 To The North. The men’s basketball team is on the road this weekend before a pair of home games next week. They’ll play at Air Force tomorrow at 2 p.m. on the Mountain West Network. The Lobos look to go 12-1 to start Mountain West play, while the Falcons haven’t won a conference game yet.

🔺 On Watch. Men’s cross country and track & field star Habtom Samuel has been named to The Bowerman Mid-Indoor Watch List! He broke his own New Mexico and Mountain West record in the 5,000m last weekend. On the women’s list, Lobo freshman Pamela Kosgei received votes for the first time.

The Lobo track & field team will host the New Mexico Collegiate Classic this weekend, featuring 15 Top-25 men’s and women’s programs. You can watch all of the action on FloTrack.

🔺 Unleash The Beast. Lobo men’s golfer Oliver Cage was named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week! He was New Mexico’s top finisher at the N.I.T., finishing tied for 19th at 6-under. The Lobos will return to the course next week at the John Burns Intercollegiate.

🔺 Student-Athletes. New Mexico had 92 student-athletes named Mountain West All-Academic for the fall semester! The honorees come from football, soccer, volleyball, and cross country. The 92 honorees are the third-most in program history.
