🔺 We Are The Champions. The women’s track & field team won the Indoor Mountain West Championship! It’s their first conference title since 2014. Judy Rono won the 800m, while Pamela Kosgei won the mile and the 3,000m on the final day of competition. The Lobo men came in second-place, just four points out of first. Brodie Young, Habtom Samuel, Collins Kiprotich, and the 4×400m relay squad took home gold. Samuel was named the Mountain West Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet for the second-straight year. Head coach Darren Gauson earned Mountain West Women’s Track Coach of the Year.

🔺 March Is Here. The men’s basketball team started March with a win! They beat Air Force 92-71 on Saturday to remain in first-place in the conference. Donovan Dent led the Lobos with 23 points and six assists. Nelly Junior Joseph recorded his 14th double-double of the year with 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Lobos’ 15 conference wins ties the school record. They’ll head to Nevada tomorrow for a 7 p.m. matchup.

🔺 Weekend Away. Lobo softball went 3-2 at the Bulldog Invitational at Mississippi State over the weekend! Their two losses came from the No. 21 Bulldogs. The Lobos beat Northwestern State in an 11-3 run-rule on Friday. McKenna Guest struck out a career-high 10 batters in the win. They finished the weekend with two wins over Alabama State. The 6-0 win on Sunday was the fourth shutout of the season.

🔺 Grand Ol’ Time. The Lobos fell to Rhode Island on Friday, but never looked back. They won the next three games to take the series! They recorded 17 hits on Saturday, beating the Rams 15-14. Ethan Ott hit the first grand slam of the year at Santa Ana Star Field to give the Lobos the lead. New Mexico took both games in Sunday’s doubleheader and they’ve now won six of their last seven.

🔺 Comeback Complete. The women’s basketball team defeated Fresno State 65-61 on the road! The Lobos clawed back from a 31-9 deficit in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 56-30 from then on. Paris Lauro led the Lobos with a career-high 18 points. Amhyia Moreland recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Lobos will conclude the regular season tomorrow when they host Air Force at 7 p.m.
