🔺 Award Season. Award season is here! Women’s basketball’s Destinee Hooks and Laila Abdurraqib received postseason awards from the Mountain West Conference. Hooks was named to the All-Mountain West Team, while Abdurraqib was selected to the All-Freshman Team.

The women’s basketball team fell to Boise State 62-61 in the Mountain West Tournament Quarterfinals. Hooks scored a game- and career-high 29 points.

🔺 That’s A Wrap. The men’s basketball team fell to Utah State 94-90 in the regular-season finale. Jake Hall led the Lobos with a freshman record-breaking 32 points, including seven three-pointers. Despite a strong second half, New Mexico couldn’t overcome Utah State’s lead. The Lobos will be the No. 3 seed in the Mountain West Tournament, beginning play on Thursday night.

🔺 Finished Strong. Despite dropping some opening games at the Jaguar Classic, New Mexico softball finished the weekend with back-to-back wins! The Lobos run-ruled host South Alabama 16-1 on Saturday. Caitlin Benningfield pitched a one-hitter, while DeNae Vasquez-Dickson went 4-4 with two doubles and two RBI. The Lobos scored a season-high 16 runs, hitting three home runs and stealing three bases.

The Lobos went on to beat Samford 4-3 in eight innings on Sunday. Benningfield pitched 7.2 innings with 13 strikeouts, and Miracle McKenzie hit two home runs, including a crucial two-run shot in the eighth inning. The Lobos are now 6-0 when hitting multiple home runs in a game.

🔺 Split The Weekend. The women’s tennis team defeated UC Riverside 4-0 on Friday as Vivica Corley and Kathy Tsai each won two matches. They went on to fall to Cal State Fullerton 4-1 in their final non-conference match. Despite winning the doubles point, the Lobos lost three singles matches.

The men’s tennis team also split the weekend at the 2026 Jack Kennedy Classic, losing 4-1 to No. 71 Denver before defeating Lubbock Christian 4-0. New Mexico secured the doubles point against Denver but lost in singles, while against Lubbock Christian, they dominated both doubles and singles for the win.
