🔼  Top Of The Mountain. We are the champions for the first time since 2014! The men’s basketball team won four games in four days to claim the Mountain West Championship. Jaelen House was named the tournament MVP, he scored 28 points in the championship game against San Diego State. Throughout the week, he scored 92 points to set a school record for the most points by a Lobo in a conference tournament. Jamal Mashburn Jr. scored 21 points in the conference finale, he and JT Toppin joined Jaelen on the All-Tournament Team.

🔼 Foster Fast. Lobo swimmer Jordan Foster took ninth in the 100-yard individual medley at the National Invitational Swimming Championships! She won a swim-off to qualify for the A-Finals for the first time in UNM history at the meet. Her ninth-place finish was the highest of the weekend for the Lobos.

🔼 Clutch On The Court. Women’s tennis player Leonie Hoppe has clinched a Lobo victory in back-to-back-to-back matches! The Lobos beat UNLV after losing 16-straight matches over the last 19 years. Leonie and doubles partner Katherine Jhang won their match 6-0, while Hsuan Huang and Maria Sodre also won theirs for the point and the lead. On Sunday, they went to Colorado State to secure the 4-2 win over the Rams and improve to 2-0 in conference play.

🔼 Friday Fun. Conference play started with a win for Lobo softball! They defeated San José State 6-5 on Friday in an eight inning ball game. The Lobos outhit the Spartans 8-6, with seven Lobos getting at least one hit. Keyannah Chavez went 2-for-3 with a double for her ninth multi-hit game of the year. The Lobos fell in Saturday and Sunday’s contests.

🔼 Milestone Met. Lobo baseball closed out the weekend with a 10-8 win at Nevada. The win was No. 400 as a head coach for Coach Tod Brown! Reed Spenrath and Jake Holland combined for seven RBI, two homers, and four doubles. Reed drove in five runs for the Lobos and Jake scored four runs. Josh Barnhouse stopped Nevada’s attempt at a comeback and shut the door with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He shoved four strikeouts in three innings, allowing zero runs. The Lobos will host New Mexico State in the first Rio Grande Rivalry of the season on Tuesday.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Walkin’ In Memphis. The Lobos are walkin’ dancin’ in Memphis! The 11-seeded Lobos will open the NCAA Tournament against No. 6 Clemson on Friday at FedEx Forum. They’ll play the Tigers at 1:10 pm MT on TruTV and the Lobo Radio Network. This will be New Mexico’s 16th NCAA Tournament appearance and the first since 2014.
