🔺 Record Breaker. New Mexico's Habtom Samuel shattered the collegiate outdoor 5,000-meter record, again, running 12:57.23 at the LA Track Fest at UCLA on Saturday night. The time is a new Eritrean national record and the fastest in the world this year, as Samuel became the only athlete in the loaded professional field to break 13 minutes. It marks the second time this season he has broken the NCAA outdoor record in the event and gives him the three fastest outdoor 5,000-meter performances in collegiate history. Samuel heads to NCAA West Regionals in Fayetteville next week already qualified with his nation-leading 13:03 from the Bryan Clay Invitational.

🔺 Season Comes To A Close. New Mexico baseball's 2026 season ended with an 11-1 loss to Air Force in an elimination game at the Mountain West Tournament. The Lobos finish 29-24-1 overall and 12-11-1 in conference play. Luke Mansy collected both of UNM's hits and an RBI in his final collegiate game, while Khalil Walker scored the lone run in his. The Lobos won their first MW Tournament game since 2017 with Thursday's 13-4 rout of Nevada but dropped consecutive games to San Diego State and Air Force to end their postseason run.
