Lobos Brew 2/23: MBB Make Comeback History
The men's basketball team came back to beat Fresno State.

🔺 Historic Comeback. The New Mexico men’s basketball team beat Fresno State 80-78. The team shot 51.7% from the field and 36.84% from deep. The win marked the school’s biggest comeback in school history. The Lobos rallied from down 22 in the first half. Deyton Albury led New Mexico with 21 points.

🔺 Series. The baseball team opened its series against Northern Colorado on Friday with a 16-5 run-rule victory. The Lobos had 11 hits and 14 RBIs. New Mexico ended the weekend with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. The Lobos won 6-0 and 6-5. The men finished the weekend with a walk-off 12-11, 10-inning game on Sunday. The Lobos had 18 hits, including a double by Anthony Diaz in center field, to win the game.

🔺 Season Sweep. The women’s basketball team beat Air Force 73-53 on Saturday. Destinee Hooks and Nayli Padilla led the team with 12 points. Jessie Joaquim tallied her third double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

🔺 Season Highs. The softball team split its Friday games against Abilene Christian. The Lobos won 13-7 and fell 7-6. UNM tallied a season-high 20 hits in the win, the most in a game since 2018. New Mexico went on to win the series on Saturday with a 9-1 run-rule win. Ella Dawson hit a pinch hit home run for her first of the season.

🔺 Court Report. The women’s tennis team beat in-state NMSU 4-1 on Friday. The Lobos finished the weekend with a 4-3 win over NAU. Vianca Corley clinched the winning points in the singles for the second straight day.

🔺 Champ Results. The swim and dive team wrapped up the Mountain West Championships. On day three, the Lobos recorded five PRs, including a fourth in the meet from Kaylah Yazzie. On day four, Alice English finished 13th in the 10-meter platform. Overall, throughout the Championship weekend, UNM had 17 PRs, led by four from Yazzie.
