🔺 Grab the Lead. The men’s basketball team beat San Jose State 90-80 on Saturday. The Lobos now own a share of first place in the Mountain West alongside Utah State and San Diego State. Jake Hall led the team with a career-high 27 points, tying his UNM freshman record with seven three-pointers.

🔺 Streak Extended. The women’s basketball team beat Utah State 58-33 on Saturday to extend its win streak to three games. The 33 points were the fewest allowed in the series with the Aggies, the fewest points allowed by the Lobos since 2018, and the fewest points allowed by the Lobos in a Mountain West game since 2016. Cacia Antonio led the Lobos with 12 points.

🔺 Just Keep Swimming. The swim and dive team competed at the Lumberjack Invitational. On day one, Alice English finished 10th, and Esme Abbadi-Macintosh was 12th in the 1-meter. On day two, Abbadi-Macintosh earned her second finals appearance and took eighth place. The Lobos also swam at a dual meet at New Mexico State. Eryn Quirsfeld turned in a season-best time in the 1,000 free.

🔺 Multiple Meets. The track and field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic. On Friday, the Lobos posted two All-Time Top 5 marks in the 3,000m. The team also competed at the UNM Team Open. On Friday, Rebecca Grieve ran the second-fastest 600m race in collegiate history. On Saturday, the team had eight more personal bests and seven performances that ranked among the Top 10 in program history.

🔺 RECORD BROKEN! The track and field team finished the weekend at the Millrose Games. Habtom Samuel broke a collegiate two-mile record that had stood since 1978 with an 8:11.47 time. He was the only current collegiate runner and finished ninth at the event. Samuel was only the third Lobo to earn entry into the Millrose Games while still in college since 2018.

🔺 Weekly Honor. Track and field athlete Matthew Endrödy was named the Mountain West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. This is his first MW weekly award of the sophomore’s career. Endrödy won the men’s mile with a time of 3:58.85 at the Dr. MLK Jr. Invitational.

🔺 Double Dubs. The women’s tennis team won its doubleheader on Sunday. The Lobos beat Western New Mexico 7-0 and CSU Pueblo 7-0. Fifteen of the 30 sets on the day were won by 6-0 scores for UNM. The Lobos are 2-0 so far this season.
