📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Season Opener. The men’s basketball team won its season opener against East Texas A&M on Wednesday. The Lobos won 76-54, and 12 players made their debut as a Lobo. Uriah Tenette and Jake Hall led the team with 14 points each. UNM started the two freshmen players. This is the first time two freshmen started in a season opener since 2010-11. The win marks the 23rd straight season opener victory for the Lobos.

🔺 Anotha’ One. Senior kicker Luke Drzewiecki was named a Burlsworth Trophy nominee. He is one of 79 players in the FBS on the list. The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in the FBS who began his career as a walk-on and has shown exceptional performance on the field. Each nominee must have started his first season of participation with an FBS football program without financial aid of any kind from his university’s athletic department. Drzewiecki is 10-for-11 on the season in field goals and 30-for-30 on extra points.

🔺 Forever a Lobo. Women’s soccer head coach Heather Dyche announced she will be stepping down to accept an opportunity with U.S. Soccer. She led the Lobos to 11 incredible seasons. Now, she will be the head coach for the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team.

🔺 First Fall. The women’s basketball team fell to Colorado 84-89. Destinee Hooks finished with a game-high 22 points. The Lobos scored 20 points in the second quarter, but were unable to beat Colorado’s 33-point third quarter.

🔺 Match Finale. The volleyball team fell to UNLV 3-0. Gioia Riccato led the team with 11 kills. Madison Blanco led New Mexico with eight digs.
