🔼  Man Of The Year. After a record-breaking season on the indoor track, Habtom Samuel was named Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Male Athlete of the Year! He won conference titles in the 3,000m and 5,000m by breaking the championship record in both races. He left the NCAA Indoor Championships with two First Team All-American honors, finishing fourth in the 5,000m and seventh in the 3,000m. This honor adds to his collection that consists of 2023 Mountain West Cross Country Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA Mountain Region Cross Country Athlete of the Year, and multiple conference championships.

🔼 She’s An Ace. After clinching the doubles point and the overall win at San José State, Katherine Jhang was named Mountain West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week! She teamed with last week’s Player of the Week Leonie Hoppe to win their doubles match. This is the first time the Lobos have ever won the award in back-to-back weeks during conference play. Katherine went on to clinch the overall win in for the third time this season. The 14-1 Lobos will play at Boise State today at noon.

🔼 Run With The Wolves. Softball is back in action today after just one day off from a doubleheader. The Lobos will play another doubleheader today at Nevada starting at 1 pm. The second game will be 30 minutes after game one ends and they’ll finish the series tomorrow at 2 pm. Last year, the Lobos won this series at home.

🔼 Open The Gates. The men’s tennis team will start Mountain West play today as they host nationally-ranked Utah State at 4 pm. Last season, the Lobos beat the Aggies two-out-of-three meetings. The Lobos boast six Mountain West Weekly honors so far this season.

🔼 Keep The Good Vibes Going. Lobo baseball is on the road at San Diego State for a three-game series that starts today. The Lobos went 3-1 last week, capped by a doubleheader sweep of San José State. They’re currently in a four-way tie for first-place in the conference. The Lobos are liking the long ball, winning all 10 games where they’ve hit multiple home runs. They rank No. 3 in DI baseball in total double plays, No. 4 in total doubles, and No. 5 in total hits. Tonight’s game will start at 7 pm on the Mountain West Network.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

JT Toppin was named a finalist for the 2023-24 Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year Award! He’s one of 30 freshmen finalists for the award, which will be presented during the Final Four. He led the conference with 9.1 rebounds per game, a field goal percentage of .623, 68 blocks, and offensive boards per game. His field goal percentage is in the top-20 by a freshman in NCAA history. He also led all freshmen with 12 double-doubles.
