The University of New Mexico Spirit Program is excited to host the inaugural Lobo Spirit Golf Classic on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Santa Ana Golf Club. This event brings together alumni, businesses, families, and community supporters for a day of golf while investing in the student-athletes who proudly represent UNM on campus, athletic events, community, and on the national stage. Tournament proceeds help provide essential resources including travel, uniforms, equipment, training opportunities, and overall program development. Whether you're an avid golfer, looking for a fun day with friends, or interested in showcasing your business, we'd love to have you join us. Registration closes September 15, 2026, with any remaining team openings available until tournament day, as space allows. We also offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals looking to make an even greater impact. 🔺 Huge Honor. Habtom Samuel was named the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year. Samuel maintained a cumulative 3.40 GPA to become the first man from New Mexico to earn the national outdoor scholar-athlete honor. It’s the second year in a row with a Lobo athlete taking home the honor, and the third time in program history.

🔺 Scholar Athletes. The women’s tennis team was honored with an ITA All-Academic Team honor. Eight players were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes: Yu Yun "Kathy" Tsai, Vivica Corley, Marika Matsoukatidi, Bente Vandeputte, Sarah L'Allier, Ramona Petre, Lea Malazdra, Ana Veroux, and Coumba Ben Niangadou. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
