📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Gone Sweepin’. Two Lobos swept the Mountain West weekly awards! Jake Holland was named Mountain West Player of the Week after hoisting a .727 batting average, 2.750 OPS, and 14 RBIs over the weekend. He hit four home runs and two doubles as well. Jake was also one of D1Baseball’s top performers. Ryan Castillo was named Pitcher and Freshman of the Week. He earned his first career win while throwing a career-high five innings and seven strikeouts in game two of the weekend. He didn’t give up a single earned run and retired 13 of 15 batters he faced.

🔼  Special Guest. The diamond awards didn’t end with baseball, softball’s McKenna Guest was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week! She went 2-0 last week and threw two complete games. She finished the week with a 1.26 ERA and 13 strikeouts. She also threw a season-high 8 innings and 148 pitches in the win over UNLV. In the win over UTEP, the freshman carried a no-hitter through one out in the seventh inning. She’s the first Lobo to win a weekly conference award this season.

🔼 Double The Fun. Lobo softball is on the road at New Mexico State for a Rio Grande Rivalry doubleheader. They’ll start the doubleheader today at 4 pm and play game two directly after, both games will stream on ESPN+. The Lobos lead the all-time series with the Aggies, 85-71. Last season, they split the series.

🔼 At The Top. The Lobos finished day two of the Hootie at Bulls Bay at the top of the leaderboard! They sit at 16-under overall, two strokes ahead of LSU. Matthew Watkins is alone in first-place individually, Albert Boneta is tied for third, and Carson Herron and Connor Adams are tied in tenth. They’ll finish the tournament today with the final round.
