📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Beatdown In The Bay. The 25th-ranked men’s basketball team got it’s fourth-straight win at San José State last night. The Lobos dominated the Spartans the entire game, never trailing, to get the 95-75 win. Jaelen House led the Lobos with 18 points and Jamal Mashburn Jr. was close behind with 17. Donovan Dent also had 17 and added six assists. Mountain West Freshman of the Week JT Toppin recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. He tied the New Mexico freshman season record. The Lobos will be back at The Pit on Sunday against Nevada.

🔼 Hot Shots. The women’s basketball team also got a win last night as they defeated Fresno State, 84-77. Two Lobos finished with 20-plus points, Nyah Wilson scored a career-high 24 while Paula Reus scored 20 points. Aniyah Augmon added 18 points and Viané Cumber scored 16. Aniyah leads the conference in steals and added a game-high three to her count.

🔼 Sweet Sweep. The first week of tennis proved solid for the Lobos! The men’s team swept the Mountain West awards this week. Arda Azkara was named Player of the Week for the fifth time in his career. He was perfect in singles at the Jack Kennedy Classic and went 1-1 in doubles. He’s now 20-0 at home in his career at No. 1 singles. Nicolas Recoura earned Freshman of the Week honors after going 2-0 over the weekend. He defeated the NCAA’s No. 55 doubles team with his teammate Georgio Samaha.

🔼 Mr. Popular. The newest episode of the Sy & Skye Podcast features Lobo men’s basketball player JT Toppin! He talks about his incredible freshman season so far that includes six Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors and playing in The Pit. We also learn more about his upbringing and getting to New Mexico.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Lobo student-athletes had record-setting performances in the classroom in the fall! Lobo female student-athletes recorded a non-COVID semester record 3.64 GPA, while the men had their second-best semester with a 3.21. This is the 31st-straight semester that the Lobos turned in at least a 3.0 GPA. In total, 66 student-athletes recorded a 4.0 or better.
