Lobos Brew 11/9: Let's Take A Trip

Today, the basketball teams are headed to California and volleyball is starting their final homestand.

Good morning! And congratulations to all the new Lobos that signed their National Letter of Intent’s yesterday! Welcome to the 505!

What else is steeping in today’s Brew?

🏀 First road trip
🏐 Final four
🐺 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 True Test. The Lobo men’s basketball team is headed to California to play No. 23 Saint Mary’s! The Lobos are coming off a big 92-55 win that started the season, but this will be a bigger test. Saint Mary’s was picked as the preseason favorite in the West Coast Conference and they opened their season with a 107-28 victory over DII Stanislaus State. Last season, New Mexico won at Saint Mary’s, 69-65, to snap their 23-game home winning streak. The game is at 8pm and will be live on ESPN+ and the Lobo Radio Network.

✍️ The Lobos had two signees yesterday in Kayde Dotson and Jovan Milicevic. Kayde is a three-star guard from Beaumont, Texas who has helped his team to a 104-5 record in the last three seasons. Jovan is a four-star forward who plays at Dream City Christian in Arizona. He represented Canada at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup.

🔼  California Love. The women’s basketball team is also taking a trip to California as they take on Pepperdine tonight. The two teams are 2-2 against each other. Pepperdine opened their season with a win over UC Irvine on Tuesday, so they have a little less of a break between these games. Tip is set for 7pm on ESPN+.

🔼  Home Finale. There are just four games remaining in the regular volleyball season. This week, the Lobos will host their final two home games — starting tonight. They’ll host Fresno State at 6:30pm this evening in the Johnson Center. The Lobos are in a three-way tie for second-place in the league, and one of those tied teams is Fresno State. New Mexico leads the conference in digs and opponent hitting in conference play. If you can’t make it out tonight, you can tune in on the Mountain West Network.

✍️ The Lobos inked three signees yesterday in Amanda Tremeroli, Seenane Brewer, and Reagan Miller.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

The Man. Lobo wide receiver Duece Jones was nominated for the Wuerffel Trophy, college football’s premier award for community service. He passed out backpacks to local schools at the start of the school year. His former coach inspired him to give back early on. Listen to his story!
