📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Consistency Is Key. The Lobos soccer team was picked to finish third in the Mountain West Preseason Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Poll. Only three points separated 1-3 in the poll. This is the fifth-straight year the Lobos have been picked by the coaches to finish in the top three of the conference standings. Wyoming and San Diego State were picked 1 and 2. Conference play will begin on September 21 at San José State.

The Lobos tied 1-1 with UTEP in yesterday’s exhibition match.

🔼 Know Your ‘Bos. There are 23 days until football season officially kicks off, and there two No. 23’s on the roster!

🏈 Hunter Sellers is a redshirt sophomore corner back from College Park, Georgia. That name may sound a little familiar because his brother, Trent Sellers, was a defensive lineman for the Lobos in 2018 and 2019. Hunter was a First Team All-Region 4A and All-State Defense selection. He went to Pittsburgh for his first two seasons and transferred to New Mexico in 2022. He saw the field in two games last season, recording a tackle against Fresno State.

🏈 Zach Vigil is a sophomore running back from Rio Rancho. He played at Rio Rancho High School and was named the 2021 New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year. He was also 2021 Mr. New Mexico Football, named First Team All-State at running back, and District 1-6A Player of the Year. He scored 30 touchdowns his senior year. Last season, he saw action in nine games, mostly on special teams. He had a big fourth-and-1 conversion against Air Force. He recovered an onside kick for a touchdown against UTEP.

🔼 Lauren Goes Low. Lobo golfer Lauren Lehigh has been competing at the U.S. Women’s Amateur this week. On Tuesday, she advanced to match play for the second-straight year! She won her match against Isabella Rawl yesterday and will play more today. The round of 32 and round of 16 will both be played today, with the round of 16 airing on the Golf Channel at 6:00pm MT.

🐺 ONE BIG THING

Three For All-America. Three Lobo men’s golfers were named 2022-23 GCAA All-American Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Bastien Amat and Albert Boneta received the honor for the second time and Carson Herron received his first. All three of these men were in the lineup that led the Lobos to the NCAA Championship last season. To be eligible, they must participate in 50% of the teams competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, at least a 3.20 GPA, and be of high moral character. Bastien led the team with a 70.76 stroke average, Albert was right behind with a 70.79, and Carson held a 71.95.
