📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Great Start. The volleyball team went 2-0 in its first day of competition for the 2025 season. The Lobos beat Manhattan 3-0 and Northern Arizona 3-2. Addison France and Giola Riccato each had 11 kills against Manhattan. Later that night, Riccato led with 22 kills against NAU. The Lobos went on to sweep Houston Christian 3-0 to finish the weekend. Naomi Chankoumi led the team with 13 kills.

🔺 Anotha’ Dub. The women’s soccer team beat Oregon State 1-0 on Sunday. This marks the first win against OSU in program history. Gabby Beaudry scored in the first half. It was her second goal of the season. Goalkeeper Alyson Campbell had six saves.

🔺 Top 3. The cross country team opened its season at the Lori Fitzgerald Open. The men finished first and the women took third place. Millie McLelland-Brooks finished third with a time of 17:39.78 in the 5k. Iker Sanchez took sixth with a time of 14:37.47.

🔺 Fell Short. The football team faced No. 14 Michigan in its season opener. The Lobos fell 34-17. Dorian Thomas scored on a nine-yard pass from D.J. McKinney in the second quarter. Luke Drzewiecki added a 44-yard field goal. Thomas scored again in the third quarter on a three-yard pass from Jack Layne.

🔺 New Position. The University of New Mexico named Russ McCarthy the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Performance for Olympic Sports. He has been a member of the Lobos athletic performance staff since August 2021. Now, he will oversee all of the athletic performance for UNM’s Olympic Sport programs.
