🔼 Counting Down. There are 17 days until football season arrives, so let’s take a look at who’s No. 17 on the roster. We have two lucky number 17’s!

🏈 Magnus Geers is a tight end transfer from Temple. He was actually the No. 1 football recruit in Switzerland and moved to America to follow his dream of playing D1 college football. He played many positions in high school — quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, and safety. He played three seasons at Temple and appeared in six games last season.

🏈 Josh Williamson is a redshirt sophomore safety from Tampa, Florida. He played at Reedley Junior College in seven games, recording 17 tackles, three interceptions, and two tackles for loss. Last season at New Mexico, he appeared in one game and recorded one tackle.

🔼 Welcome Party. Today, we’re having a huge welcome party for our newest Lobos! We have four new members joining the Lobo family, so let’s get into it.

🎥 Locals may know him pretty well, Brandon Ortega is officially a Lobo! He was named the lead for Creative Services for Lobo Football. Brandon has been covering New Mexico sports around the state on KOB 4 for the last five years. He’ll be working with the creative team to film highlights, recruiting, and enhance the Lobos social media presence. We’re so excited to have him on the team!

🏃‍♀️ Track & field/ cross country head coach Darren Gauson named Elizabeth Danis as an assistant coach, focusing on distance runners. She spent last season as an assistant at Gonzaga, leading them to their highest national ranking in program history in cross country. She was a runner for the University of New Hampshire and Gonzaga. Welcome to New Mexico!

🎉 We have two new members of the external team — Jeremy Parks and Connor Gilbert. Jeremy is the Assistant AD for Marketing and Promotions, he came from Portland after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant at Cal State Bakersfield and UC Davis. Connor is an assistant director of communications — primarily with volleyball, baseball, and track & field/cross country. He comes to New Mexico from Gonzaga.
