🔼 Double The Wins. Lobo baseball swept their doubleheader with San José State on Saturday! They took the first game 7-5 and game two 17-4 to earn their first series win over the Spartans since 2021. Jake Holland was dominant at the plate all day, going 5-for-6 with three homers, five runs scored, and nine RBI. He’s now homered in four-straight games and is tied for the most in the conference. Four Lobos combined for six home runs through the doubleheader. Jaren Jackson earned win one, throwing a career-high seven strikeouts. Freshman Ryan Castillo was big in relief in game two, earning his first career-win with a career-high five innings pitched and seven strikeouts.

🔼  Peak Perfection. The women’s tennis team stayed perfect in Mountain West play with a win over San José State on Friday. The Lobos were down 3-1, but Maria Sodre, Leonie Hoppe, and Katherine Jhang wouldn’t allow the Spartans to take it. Leonie and Katherine are now 11-1 as a doubles team. Yesterday’s match against Fresno State was cancelled due to rain. They’ll play again at Boise State on Thursday.

🔼 Sitting In Second. After one round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay, the 19th-ranked men’s golf team sits in second-place. The Lobos shot 2-under in the opening 18 holes. Albert Boneta, Carson Herron, and Matthew Watkins all shot 1-under and sit tied for 7th. They’ll continue with round two today.

🔼  Walk It Off. Lobo softball got a conference win over UNLV on Saturday, thanks to a walk-off home run! The Lobos outhit the Rebels 5-4 with Chloe Yeatts going 2-for-3. McKenna Guest pitched her eighth complete game of the season, allowing just one run out of 36 batters faced. The game was all tied-up at 1-1 until the eighth inning, when Rachael Hathoot hit a walk-off homer to secure the 2-1 win.

🔼 All She Wrote. The men’s basketball team finished their season after the first-round of the NCAA Tournament. They fell to No. 6 Clemson, 77-56 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. Nelly Junior Joseph led the Lobos with 14 points and 12 rebounds in his last collegiate game. The shots weren’t falling for the Lobos like they were for the Tigers, New Mexico shot a season-low 29.7 percent from the floor. Two Lobos had double-digit rebounds, Nelly Junior Joseph and JT Toppin, for the first time in an NCAA Tournament game since 1999. The 26 wins the Lobos earned this season tied for the sixth-most in Lobo history and the most in a decade.
