🔺 New Position. The women’s tennis team named Vicky Maes as the Director of the Lobo Tennis Club. Maes is stepping down as the head coach after leading the women’s program since 2018. Maes finishes her Lobo career after an eight-year run that saw her become the second-winningest coach in school history with 84 wins. Overall, she went 84-79 as the second-longest tenured coach in the program’s history. In her new role as Director of the Lobo Tennis Club, Maes will be responsible for managing and overseeing one of the premier tennis facilities in the State of New Mexico and the only facility with indoor courts. Joe Vann will take over as the new women’s tennis head coach. Vann recently coached at Central Oklahoma where he led the Bronchos to a 73-34 record. Last season, his team went 18-4 overall and won the MIAA Tournament title.

🔺 Staying Longer. Softball head coach Nicole Orgeron received a contract extension that will keep her in the Cherry and Silver through 2028. New Mexico won 28 games in 2026, the most wins in a season since 2015 and finished with a winning record for the first time since 2015. Further, the Lobos won 13 conference games, the most Mountain West wins since 2015 and tied the second-most conference wins by a Lobo team. Orgeron became just the second Lobo head coach in program history to win in their coaching debut, doing so with the largest margin of victory (12-3 in five innings).
